The approved design is the beginning of supply
Electrical equipment belongs to a system. Voltage, load, fault current, grounding, protection philosophy, environment, interfaces and operating duty determine what the equipment must withstand and perform. A bill of quantities can identify commercial scope, but it cannot replace the approved single-line, specifications, studies and coordinated drawings.

What is physically and operationally happening?
Electrical equipment belongs to a system. Voltage, load, fault current, grounding, protection philosophy, environment, interfaces and operating duty determine what the equipment must withstand and perform. A bill of quantities can identify commercial scope, but it cannot replace the approved single-line, specifications, studies and coordinated drawings.
When documents conflict, the responsible action is not to choose the most convenient value. The project must identify the controlling authority and revision, preserve the conflict and obtain an authorized resolution before selection or production.
Authority
Identify approved owner, consultant and utility documents and their revision status.
System data
Confirm voltage, load, fault duty, grounding, environment and service conditions.
Equipment duty
Translate system data into ratings, interfaces and performance requirements.
Release
Approve the exact configuration and resolved deviations before commitment.
Design-authority chain
Commercial and technical decisions should trace back to the approved system design.
