Submittals, production, logistics and site readiness

Technical control continues after selection. Approved drawings, data sheets, accessories, deviations and inspection plans define what production should build. A release made before open technical items close can convert a clarification into expensive rework.

EXPLANATION

What is physically and operationally happening?

Technical control continues after selection. Approved drawings, data sheets, accessories, deviations and inspection plans define what production should build. A release made before open technical items close can convert a clarification into expensive rework.

Delivery is also an engineering interface. Equipment may require moisture control, shock monitoring, upright transport, lifting points, storage heating, foundation readiness or access planning. Arriving early is not automatically helpful if the site cannot receive, protect or install the equipment safely.

WORKED EXAMPLE

Transformer arrives before the room is ready

A dry-type transformer is delivered four months before the building is weather-tight.

  1. Quarantine and document receiving condition
  2. Obtain manufacturer preservation requirements
  3. Establish controlled storage, inspection and monitoring
  4. Record cost and schedule impacts and prevent installation until ready
INTERPRETATION

Early delivery creates moisture, damage and warranty risk unless preservation is actively managed.

COMMON FAILURE OR MISCONCEPTION
Once equipment passes factory tests, the remaining risk is only schedule.
