The visual authority hierarchy
A photograph is evidence only when its context survives.
Images may help identify equipment, explain an installation or support a project record. They do not independently prove compliance, acceptance, authority or measured performance. The caption and source status must state the permitted decision use.
Capture the system, not only the beauty shot.
The exact shot list is adjusted to the product and site, but each assignment should preserve identity, interfaces, installation condition and operating context.
Record the exact product, nameplate, serial, revision and configuration needed to connect the image to a controlled record.
