Water metering · 6 min
Digital water metering starts with the pipe, not the radio.
Reliable water intelligence depends first on hydraulic fit, installation conditions and measurement range; communications and dashboards cannot correct a poorly selected meter.
METRO POWER FIELD GUIDEA digital water-metering program connects physical flow to billing, customer service, leakage investigation and maintenance. The field measurement must be credible before data frequency, alarms or analytics can create value.
Start with the hydraulic profile
Confirm pipe diameter and material, pressure, expected minimum and maximum flow, flow direction, water quality, installation orientation and available straight run. A nominal pipe size alone does not establish measurement fit.
Design communications around operations
Radio technology, transmission frequency and gateway placement should follow the required reading cycle, field coverage, building conditions, battery expectations and exception process. More frequent transmission can affect energy consumption and lifecycle assumptions.
Turn readings into accountable work
Define how consumption, reverse flow, low-battery events and supported alarms enter billing, customer service and maintenance workflows. Device ownership, data ownership, investigation thresholds and response responsibility should be explicit before scale-up.
