Electric metering · 5 min

Modernization still depends on conventional metering discipline.

Service configuration, meter form, socket, CT/PT arrangement, testing, sealing and records remain foundational, even when the roadmap leads to AMI.

METRO POWER FIELD GUIDE

Digital transformation does not remove the need for sound metering fundamentals. It increases the importance of accurate configuration data, controlled installation and traceable assets.

01

Configuration before catalog

Voltage, current class, phase, wire arrangement, meter form, socket or enclosure, instrument transformers, accuracy requirement and environmental conditions must be confirmed before selecting a model.

02

Evidence before equivalence

A familiar class label does not prove full interchangeability. Dimensional, terminal, form, accuracy, communications, sealing and certification requirements must be checked against the controlling specification and current model documentation.

03

Records enable modernization

Clean serial, location, configuration, test and installation records reduce migration risk. They support inventory control, field replacement, exception analysis and future AMI planning.
